URGENT - Delayed School Opening for Term 3 2021

I hope you have all managed to have good Christmas break so far and have stayed safe at this time.

I am sure you will have seen or heard the announcement today from the Secretary of State for Education and the Prime Minister about schools opening in Term 3.

As Swale is an area in Kent with significantly high rates of infection, the Government have issued a contingency plan to delay the opening of all Primary and Secondary Schools in January.

For our school, this means children will not be returning to school at the start of Term 3 on the 5th January unless they are children of Critical Workers, essential to tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, or they are children identified as Vulnerable.

Children who do not fall into these groups should remain at home and access online learning through our Google Classroom platform.

It is unclear when we will be re-opening fully to all children as it will depend on how quickly the infection rate decreases but I will keep you updated of any changes.

Please bear with us as we unpick the implications of this announcement and what this means for you.  I will send a letter in the next few days providing further details on Critical Workers and Vulnerable children and how we will support your children with remote learning.

In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of your holiday and have a safe and relaxing New Year.
