Illness

Welcome to Autumn Term at Holywell School!

As we all know, coughs and colds are rampant at the moment so it is important the children know how to take care of themselves.

The advice, as always, is to ensure that any coughs or sneezes are caught into a tissue and disposed of and the hands are then washed with soap to prevent germs being spread to others.

The NHS advises tips to help get better more quickly:

  • rest and sleep
  • keep warm
  • drink plenty of water (fruit juice or squash mixed with water is OK) to avoid dehydration
  • gargle salt water to soothe a sore throat

It is important to ensure children are in school whenever possible.  Most children are able to attend after having some cough medicine or Calpol.   We have some children in school who have low immunity and so it is vital we monitor and prevent the spread of illness wherever possible.

If you have any concerns, please get in touch withe the school office or Mrs Shellard.
