Remote Learning
At Holywell Primary School, we are firmly committed to providing a high‑quality education for every child, even if we face a partial or full school closure. Our school values – Be Ready, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Resilient – guide everything we do, including how we support learning at home. These principles help ensure that our pupils continue to feel connected, encouraged, and confident in their learning.
Blended Approach to Remote Learning
If a school closure lasts more than a couple of days, we will use a blended approach to remote learning. This means pupils will take part in short live lessons through Google Classroom as well as complete engaging activities shared on our school website. This approach helps us stay connected with our pupils while offering flexible learning that can fit around family routines.
Live Lessons
Teachers will deliver some short, interactive sessions through Google Classroom. These live lessons allow pupils to receive clear explanations, ask questions in real time, and enjoy learning alongside their classmates. Children will access Google Classroom just as they would in school, helping them feel confident and familiar with the platform.
Online Activities
Alongside live lessons, families will find a range of activities and resources on our school website. These may include:
- Pre‑recorded teaching videos
- Interactive worksheets and tasks
- Links to high‑quality learning platforms
- Creative projects and challenges
These resources give pupils opportunities to practise skills, explore interests, and enjoy learning independently or with support.
Supporting Our Families
We know that remote learning can bring challenges for parents and carers, and we are here to help. If you need guidance, have questions, or require additional support, please contact your child’s class teacher or our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). We want every family to feel supported throughout the remote learning process.
Belonging and Wellbeing
A sense of belonging is central to life at Holywell, and this remains just as important during any school closure. To support wellbeing, we will offer:
- Virtual check‑ins
- Online assemblies
- Opportunities for pupils to connect socially
Our aim is to maintain the warm, nurturing environment that makes Holywell special, helping pupils continue to feel part of our school community.
By taking a flexible, caring, and responsive approach to remote learning, we aim to help our pupils stay ready, resilient, and connected, whatever challenges arise. We remain dedicated to providing the very best education and support for our school community.
If you would like any further information about our remote learning provision, please get in touch. We are always here to help.
